Eager to see what was lurking beneath my waist high potatoes plants, we decided to take the plunge and pull up a few plants. Underneath the canopy of poisonous foliage, nestled in cow and compost soil were the most beautiful tubers I have ever seen. These potatoes were crisp, hard and had a brilliant cranberry hue. Petite and absolutely delicious. Who knew that throwing some old sprouty potatoes into my back flower bed would result is something so fantastic. Note: side effect, eating food grown in your own backyard can make you giddy with the possibilities. Care should be taken when devouring food as one might start thinking outside the box and quite possibly outside one's ability
(artichokes anyone?)
