Maker's Lab: Simple Pantry Oatmeal

School starts this week.  So I am sharing my favorite, stock-up for school, pantry items. I have been making this oatmeal mix for a while for all the same reasons you already know about me.  Less cost, less crappy ingredients, less waste = one happy Rebecca.  The oatmeal has a creamy slightly sweet taste.  My kids and Dustin love the oatmeal as is, so try it first before adding more items to it.

Almost Ready to Eat Pantry Oatmeal
or
Instant Oatmeal

7 cups regular oats ( you can totally use instant oats as well)
1 cup dried milk
1 1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tsp salt
1 tbs cinnamon

To make:

1. put 5 cups of oats in large bowl.
2. put 2 cups oatmeal in blender/food chopper.  blend until oats have a finer texture.  add  milk and blend some more.
2. add blended mixture to large bowl containing other oats.  add remaining ingredients.
3. mix super well.  until you can no longer see the cinnamon.
4. put in storage container.

To eat:
1. boil water.
2. put desired amount of oatmeal mix in bowl.
3. add enough hot water to slightly cover oatmeal.  (this is an "eye it" kind of step)
4. stir and give the oatmeal 30 seconds to "cook".
5. eat.  add maple syrup if more flavor is desired.
6. enjoy!

If you have any questions, just comment and I will try to answer then to the best of my knowledge.
